Episode 101 — Part I
Peter Allen was never “the boy next door”. Growing up in post-war bucolic Armidale, Peter stands out. He’s a born performer with innate musical ability and a mischievous smile. He partners up with Chris Bell in a fake ‘brother act’ called the Allen Brothers. They become the toast of New York but some called the Allen Brothers. They become the toast of New York but something is missing; something at the very soul of Peter. Peter is at a crossroads. How can he change? What can he possibly do next?
Episode 102 — Part II
It’s the 1970’s and the new decade finds Peter at a crossroads. His act with Chris Bell is starting to stagnate. They are booking fewer gigs and Peter is bored by their act. He is desperate to write and perform his own material, but the Allen Brothers is not the right avenue. Peter is soon jet-setting between the US and Australia. It’s the success of ‘I Go To Rio’ that makes Peter a star and opens up doors that had previously been closed.
