The Ultimate LGBTQ Bucket List

Published On: January 31, 2019

As January draws to a close and the new years resolutions we made at the start of the year become a distant memory, we thought we’d help give you an inspirational boost, you know, to get you through the rest of the year.

At the start of January we’re all super positive about the year ahead, how we’re going to go to the gym everyday (fact: most people who join the gym in January stop going by February), we’re going to meet a special someone (impossible – dream smaller people) and how we are going to manage our finances better and save some dollar (whatever – yolo). What I’m saying is, all those new years resolutions are boring. As always though, OUTtv is here to lend a helping hand (really, what would you do without us) and we reached out to some of our best Judy’s and asked them to share something they’ve always wanted to do or something they suggest others trying.

Trixie Mattel

1. “I’d like to tour the Mattel headquarters. They have a vault of every doll they’ve ever made!”
Trixie Mattel, Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4

2. “I would love to tour the Caribbean and South America to show support to my trans and LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters there, and of course hit the beaches and get my grub on!”
Dominque Jackson, Actress (Pose)

3. “Run for local office!  Leadership takes a special skill set and we know we have what it takes.  In fact, we believe that we can be twice as manipulative and deceptive as potential candidates with years more experience.  Give us the chance and we will promise big and deliver minimally on all of the important issues while ensuring that special interest groups like evil drag queens and those who worship them get the best of everything. When the time comes be sure to vote BOULET for 2019.”
Boulet Brothers, TV Personalities

4. “Opening up “Hotel Atelier,” my own hotel which showcases highlights of my career in fashion. Think of if the Chateau Marmont, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the Met Gala had a baby with the August Getty Atelier brand.
August Getty, Fashion Designer

5. “Go out and find THE BEST Ethiopian restaurant in your town! If you happen to find yourself in LA, go to ‘Meals by Genet’ on Fairfax Ave. I am obsessed with it and, Genet happens to be a loving supporter of the LGBTQ community.”
Guillermo Díaz, Actor (Scandal)

Garrett Clayton

6. “This year, I really want to cross visiting Japan off my bucket list. Not just Tokyo and all the crazy amazing stuff that goes on there, but the remote fishing villages and small towns, too! Their culture is so much different than ours, in western society; but I’m guessing I’ll find we have a lot more in common as people than I think.”
Garrett Clayton, Actor (King Cobra)

7.”Take myself to the movies. I’ve never gone alone!!”
Betty Who, Singer

8. “Get lost in Wynwood [Miami] to admire the colourful walls covered in street art before going on a shopping spree!”
BeBe Zahara, Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 1

9. “My bucket list is, I want to help design & build a permanent infrastructure and supply-chain that continually attracts the greatest talent in the world from all industries, to carry out the mission of generating all the money and resources the LGBTQ community will ever need to progress this community to become a dominant lasting world-leading culture; an infrastructure that reinforces and magnifies each one of our voices and shines a light on each and every shade of our diversity, talents, and edifies, cultivates, multiplies, and delivers all the value we have to give to the world”
Daniel Newman, Actor (Walking Dead)

10. “I would love to read from my books on all of the continents (minus Antarctica, of course, because penguins dgaf about our books); by summer’s end, I’ll be 3 for 6! What would be wonderful about this is that I’d likely get to meet and read/hear the work of queer and/or Indigenous writers all over the world!”
Billy-Ray Belcourt, Poet (Winner of the Griffin Poetry Prize)

Josie Totah

11. “One of the items on my bucket list is to travel to the beautiful island of Fiji and stay in a hut out in the water.”
Josie Totah, Actress (Champions, Jessie, Glee)

12. “I’ve always wanted to pay tribute at Jean Genet’s grave in the moroccan harbour town of Larache, because he’s my all-time favourite queer writer.”
Puppyteeth, Artist

13. “In Montreal, you must visit The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), it is such a beautiful space that operates from the fundamental premise that architecture is a public concern. Also, Brasserie Harricana in the Mile-Ex brews its own beer (a complete diverse menu) and is owned by women from the LGBTQ community. It’s a place to visit and re-visit.”
Florence Gagnon, Founder of Lez Spread the Word

14. “I have a medical condition that means I can’t go scuba diving, so my second choice would be to play a super-villain! I definitely want to play a super-villain in a movie or a tv show before I kick the bucket.”
Bex Taylor-Klaus, Actor (Dumplin’, The Killing, Scream)

15. “My 2018 Bucket List check off was Great White Shark Cage Diving at Guadalupe Island, Mexico. It was sublime and I highly recommend it!!”
Chad Michaels, Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 1

Isis King

16. “I grew up a geek of comics/cartoons and I’d love the chance to be a superhero or super villain on a TV show or movie. Once, I did wire work in costume on Top Model Allstars and as they lifted me I thought OMG I’m flying, I need more of this in my life one”.
Isis King, Model, Actress, and Fashion designer

17. “I’d like to fly around in one of those real-life Iron Man flying suits. If I die, it would still be worth it.”
Max Emerson, Actor and Model

18. “Something I’ve always wanted to do was create a life for myself where I could always be moving – particularly, I want to live at sea for a while, to see how I like it. Or on an island somewhere warm, where the responsibilities and noise of the city and modern life wouldn’t be at the front of my mind. I really believe in the human nature to move, to create, and to adventure, and it’s something I intend to fully embrace in my lifetime. Hopefully sooner than later.”
Stef Sanjati, Youtube Personality

19. “The number one thing on my bucket list is to visit the tulip fields in Holland. Over 7 million flower bulbs in one place! Not only do I want to visit, but I want to somehow have the chance to spend a couple of weeks living as close to them as I can get and helping to maintain the flowers. If there isn’t one yet, can I be the first in some sort of internship program?!”
Scott Evans, Actor

20. “The only place I want to go this ear is deeper within myself because that’s where divinity lies. Oh and also inside Judy Garland’s new mausoleum at the Hollywood forever cemetery. They moved her from New York last year and I just want to grab her little hand, or grab a handful of her ashes and say ‘you’re really not in Kansas anymore.’ Oh and I need to go to target. Could you give me a ride?”
Aunt Freckle, Actress & Professional Muse

Adam Rippon

21. “”It has always been my dream to have my own Ice Show in residence in Las Vegas. Feels only right to be working in Sin City with my presidents — Britney, Celine, Cher and Gaga —on the strip. In the short term, I’d die to go to any of these shows to get some performance and entertainment pointers from the best.”
Adam Rippon, Olympic Figure Skater

22. “The most magical place I’ve been is the Glacier Lagoon in Jökulsárlón, Iceland. Strikingly blue enormous glacial ‘diamonds’ wash ashore a beach of black volcanic sand—the most beautiful natural phenomenon I’ve ever witnessed. You feel transported to another planet. See it now, before the glaciers sadly vanish! And still on my bucket list, is to be a guest judge on Rupaul’s Drag Race. ;)”
Dan Amboyer, Actor and Director the upcoming Off-Broadway production Whirlwind

23. “I would love to expand my tour. There’s still so many places and cultures inside and outside Brazil that I want to know!”
Pabllo Vittar, Singer, Songwriter & Drag Queen

24. “Ever since I was little I’ve always dreamt big. So one of the biggest things on my bucket list is to go into space. Not as an astronaut but as a tourist. I can’t imagine another experience that could have as powerful effect on you as seeing our planet from that view.”
Eric Radford, Olympic Gold Medalist Figure Skater

25. “I want to take my mom to Holland because that’s where her family is from. Also, specifically, I want to see the tulip fields in April because I’ve only lived vicariously through photos. I also want to pay respect to my Jewish heritage and visit Anne Frank’s house. They have a lot of information about the Holocaust and how it affected Anne Frank, as well as many others like her.”
Jessie Paege, Actress and Youtube Personality

Mara Wilson

26. “I secretly love Teen Drama shows. Some of my favourites are My Mad Fat Diary, Skam, Skins, Dance Academy, and Freaks and Geeks. It would be a dream to write for one someday, or even create my own.”
Mara Wilson, Writer and Former Actress (Matilda)

27. “Something EVERY LGBTQ should do besides follow your Auntie Mrs Kasha Davis on social media is….wake up everyday and look yourself straight in the eye deep into your soul and say I LOVE YOU! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU! The good, the bad, the fierce and fabulous! OWN and LOVE your genuine self. (Also please be sure you can differentiate Judy from Liza) #youareloved”
Mrs Kasha Davis, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7

28. “I want to create a media production studio in Canada that is solely focused on generating queer content. A big, beautiful, state-of-the-art campus with sustainable funding for fiercely intersectional film, television, and animation production that is rooted in education and equality. The studio would have established output deals to ensure our stories get seen, shared, and heard globally. Oh – and an online education component to overcome geographical barriers, too. Filmed master classes across all disciplines taught by the world’s leading queer storytellers and craftspeople.”
Sarah Fodey, Writer & Director

29. “I honestly love the spirit of Toronto’s Nightlife. Anywhere you go makes you feel included and at home. A comfortable place to let loose and enjoy yourself.”
Eureka O’Hara, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10

30. “I would love to go skydiving in South Africa! I’ve wanted to go for some time now and I know it would be life changing.”
Derek Chadwick, Actor (Scream Queens)

Lady Bunny

31. “There are many fine art galleries, excellent foreign films and magnificent international sightseeing to see before I blow. But I’m gonna keep it simple and go with double penetration.”
Lady Bunny, Drag Queen and ICON

32. “On my bucket list this year is to watch the second season of Pose. The first season of the show was such a success and brought the stories of transgender women of colour and LGBTQ culture to the forefront of mainstream television. It would be incredible to see Pose recognized at this year’s Emmy Awards and take home the largest awards of the night.”
Sarah Kate Ellis, President & CEO of GLAAD

33. “Hey buster, you gotta go to da DragCon! You gon lay you eyeballs on da most transplendant, fantastically wunderbar, freaky outrageous fashion, and super-extra avant-garde weirdness, walking around on high heels! And everyone is nice!”
Disasterina, Boulet Brother’s Dragula Season 2

34. “I went to the North Pole on a life-changing Arctic expedition with FutureTalks, a community of thought leaders and experts exploring solutions to worldwide problems. Between discussions, we went on silent hikes, kayaked, and picked up plastics that floated all the way north. Any chance to learn a new terrain and contribute to the planet and local community while traveling is unbeatable.”
Alyson Stoner, Actress, Singer and Dancer (Cheaper by the Dozen, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Step Up)

35. “I’ve traveled all over the world and I still think that the Blue Lagoon in Reykjavik, Iceland is the most relaxing place I have ever been. My agent & I spent the day there on our way to perform at Nuuk Pride in Greenland. If you’re looking for a retreat feel, the Blue Lagoon is the place to go.”
Derrick Barry, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8

Desmond Is Amazing

36. “Watch all of Nelson Sullivan’s videos on the YouTube channel. [I’m] from New York City and [have] an interest in the history of the LGBTQ experience in the City. The videos are an amazing way to learn about what LGBTQ life was like in New York City in the 1980s and is documented by real people, not actors. There are many legends and icons in the videos including RuPaul, Lady Bunny, Lahoma Van Zant, Michael Musto, etc. The subjects are varied from drag shows, to Pride celebrations, to even the deaths of dear friends of Nelson Sullivan. There is footage of the East Village, West Village, the Meatpacking District, and Chelsea – all neighbourhoods we associate with the LGBTQ and artist communities. If you are ever in New York City, you should make your way to 5 Ninth Avenue. It looks EXACTLY the same as it did in the videos.”
Desmond is Amazing, Drag Kid

37. “In Toronto I strongly suggest you visit the world oldest LGBTQ bookstore and gathering place GladDay Bookshop on Church street as well as Buddies in Bad Times theatre. Buddies is a very important place for Canadian queer culture and as well as theatrical productions, there is also a party place that draws a very mixed queer crowd.”
Michael Venus, Presenter of Never Apart TV

38. “An experience I would recommend others to do is sleep at the beach under the stars while the dark blue ocean plays you its natural song. This is a soothing experience that anyone can do. The beauty of the ocean allows me to connect to all things that really matter in this life.”
Hailie Sahar, Actress (Pose)

39. “I’ve always wanted to be buried with Nico and the orphans in the Friedhof Grunewald-Forst in the Grunewald, Berlin.”
AA Bronson, Artist

40. “During my undergrad, I co-founded an arts-based after-school program for homeless LGBTQAI+ youth. I still get emails from past participants saying how much of a positive impact it had on their lives. Ever since then it’s been my goal to create a non-profit that developed more of these programs for the LGBTQAI+ community”
Steph Frosch (ElloSteph), Youtube Personality

Daniel Franzese

41. “Ever since I saw Annie as a little kid my biggest dream has been to be in an original cast of a musical on Broadway. I have accomplished so many incredible things in my journey but I still have yet to be on Broadway. Totally a bucket list moment I hope will come true one day!”
Daniel Franzese, Actor (Mean Girls)

42.  “If music is your thing and you like your kitsch and pop culture, there is nothing like a trip to Tennessee. In Memphis, Elvis’ magical and mystical Graceland (I’ve been 3 times!) with a series of amazing museums but also go inside the mansion itself, see the King’s faux Tiki Jungle Room, and the pilgrimage to his gravesite in the backyard! Music city in Nashville…the home of country music and a vibrant music scene of all stripes. And finally Dollywood in the heart of the Smokey Mountains…in the east, is a wonderful blend of hokey, Appalachian fun complete with southern-themed roller coasters to a Dolly Parton museum and a live music show incorporating members of Parton’s extended family. What more can I say?”
Todd Van Der Heyden, Broadcaster

43.  “[I] would like to visit Jamaica, [my] Dad’s homeland, to help build secure safe spaces for the transgender community. This would help to combat the severe levels of violence that they are subjected to, especially as a lot of them are experiencing homeless and unemployment.”
Munroe Bergdorf, Model

44. “Visit Cedar point amusement park which prides itself on being very LGBTQ inclusive and protective. A safe place for our family and community to visit.”
Craig Ramsay, Host of He’s Fit

45. “Right near the top of my bucket list is making a big queer feature film with my friends. LGBTQ+ stories have never been more widely accessible onscreen as they are presently. This inspires me. But it also compels me to create space for the more subversive queer narratives I seek as a viewer.”
Jordan Tannahill, Author

Kim Petras

46. “Go on my own tour and take the band and crew to Disney World on our day off”
Kim Petras, Singer & Songwriter

47. “On m bucket list is my upcoming trip to Banff Calgary and staying at the Banff Springs Hotel”
Brandon Liberati, Celebrity hairstylist

48. “See a live orchestra! Nothing can beat the experience of getting to hear so many people on so many different instruments create one sound.”
Anita Wiglit, Co-host of House of Drag

49. “I would love to see the massive Divine statue that is now in the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, USA. An experience I have had that I believe everyone should experience at least once in their life is swapping your toasted buns for the steamed option at fast food outlets. Revolutionary and life changing.”
Kita Mean, Co-host of House of Drag

50. “I couldn’t recommend living aboard more, I’ve now lived in two countries other than my own. It’s given me the opportunities I never thought possible, I’ve seen places I’d only dreamt of seeing and established life long friendships. Ultimately, moving to Canada played a major part in my training for bobsleigh and in turn, representing my country. Hopefully next for me is to live in a non-english speaking country, taking me out of my comfort zone and learning more about myself. “
Simon Dunn, Former National Team Bobsleigh Athlete

Ginger Minj

51. ” I’ve always wanted to go to one of those art nights where you get tipsy on wine and try to recreate a painting in a room full of people you don’t know. That seems like fun.”
Ginger Minj, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 & All Stars Season 2

52. “I don’t have many things on my bucket list but, don’t laugh – I’ve always wanted to be a circus clown. Touring with a big top, racing around doing little magic tricks and making people laugh seems like the best job ever. And I look adorable in clown makeup so, there you go. Know anyone hiring?”
Hugo Grrrl, Winner of House of Drag

53. “I would like to accept an invitation I received from the Pan Am Museum in Long Island New York. The Pan Am air hostesses who run the museum and I have become friends and they’ve invited me on a VIP tour of the Pan Am Museum. Pan American has always been my main inspiration for my character Pam Ann so I am very grateful to have met my Pan Am family and it would be truly an honor to visit but most of all I love hearing all of their stories of flying in the golden age on Pam Am and trust me the ladies certainly have some hair curling fabulous and naughty stories to tell.”
Pam Ann, Comedian

54. “I deeply want to visit Vancouver. So much of my book, How To Be Alone, takes place with me on a trip to Prince Edward Island, which I LOVE so much because I love Anne Of Green Gables, but Vancouver just seems like I’d meet my wife there and/or eat great vegan sheet cakes. Ideally, with cream cheese frosting”
Lane Moore, author of How To Be Alone, and creator of Tinder Live

55. “My bucket list 2019 goal is to get my top surgery and it’s SCHEDULED FOR MARCH!”
Chanty Marostica, Comedian

Greg Gorman

56. “I would love to become more involved this year with the Los Angeles Center of Photography and or the Art of Elysium-both organizations dedicated to helping those less fortunate and often in need to grow and learn through the Arts. Obviously in my case-Photography. This has certainly been on my bucket list and I need to get off my ass and do something.”
Greg Gorman, Photographer

57. “Our personal goal has always been to be entirely equal with everyone else, to have the same opportunities as those enjoyed by others and to be recognized with an identical worth to each and every other good person. Equality, as we see it certainly, should be a goal for all, and, this in mind, all sexes and sexualities should be defined with equal merit. All this to say that, at various points during the last 10 years – since getting married in London, UK – we’ve nurtured a bucket list ambition to renew our wedding vows… but only when the time was absolutely right. And, recently, having found ourselves with a couple of weeks downtime the perfect moment presented itself. Bags and sun cream packed, we nipped off to Mexico, filmed the ceremony for Entertainment Tonight Canada and, as part of the project, we’re about to be the first same sex couple to grace the cover of Wedding Vacations magazine. It’s a real honour, and we can’t wait to see the magazine on news stands later this month.”
Colin and Justin, Hosts of Home Heist

58. “Have my face on billboards and magazine covers for all my past and future ex’s to see.”
Wade Hopwo, Mentor on The Whole Package

59. “Dance to a Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus medley under the Northern Lights!”
Daniel Lypchuk, Wade Hopwo, Mentor on The Whole Package

60. “”I would recommend that everybody on their bucket list put visiting either Japan or India, or different reasons. Those two countries from all of my travels, I had the most magical of times. Being in Japan I felt like I was in the future and I had never experienced anything like that before. Being in India I felt like I was in the early 20th century and I had never experienced anything like that before either. There is such a variety of things to do, explore, eat, buy, stay at and neither of those places will disappoint you. Still on my bucket list I would love to travel more, I would love to go to Cambodia, Bhutan, Morocco and to get to go to these places with my children.”
Perez Hilton, Blogger

61. “As for experiences I’ve done that I recommend to others… therapy. To me, you can’t get to radical self-acceptance without it. And there is nothing better in the world – and for the world – than you being okay with you, as is.”
Elvira Kurt, Comedian
