Charlie David Charlie David has been a host for E! Television, NBC, and Life Network on such shows as FYE!, SpyTV, and Crash Test Mommy. He has been the subject of a documentary on the Learning Channel and has appeared as musical guest on VH1, BBC, CBS’s The Early Show, and dozens of radio shows. Charlie’s writing has been published by National Youth Ambassador and BoyCrazy! Magazines. The latter culminated in a guest appearance on NBC’s The Other Half with Dick Clark, Danny Bonaduce, and Mario Lopez. Formerly in a rock band… okay, actually it was a boyband, Charlie opened for Destiny’s Child, Pink, Snoop Dogg, Rick Springfield and Black Eyed Peas. Having enjoyed life on the road with music and modeling contracts across North America and Europe, Charlie is now focused on film and TV with recent roles on Bravo!’s Godiva’s, Showtime’s Reefer Madness, Movie Central/Movie Channel’s Terminal City and starring in here! TV’s Dante’s Cove. He is a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts and currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is 25 years old. Shannon McDonough Growing up in the Toronto area, Shannon was bitten by the show biz bug in kindergarten when she had to perform a rain dance wearing a medicine man mask for the grade 4 class next door. Unfortunately there were no eyes cut out of the mask and she did a face plant in the sandbox? But’she was hooked! She continued in theatre and trained with The Second City before branching out into television, film and voice work. Shannon is a performer, writer, and producer who devotes her time to seeing the funnier side of life. Her writing debut, the dark comedy Ring?about working in a phone sex office?met with critical acclaim. Her other plays, Talking To Mom in Colour and Southern Belle were audience favorites at The New Ideas Festival at Toronto’s Alumnae Theatre. And Every Night’s Hot At The Va Va Voom, a brash and sassy musical about lesbian love in a 1940’s New Jersey Burlesque house. Shannon has been seen on stage in Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding, and recently, Criminal Hearts. She’s also been spotted on screen in Mat Leave and Detour, being a Gay Jay, hosting events and touring with BUMP!

Episode 603 — Bora Bora
Join host Charlie David as he travels to the middle of the South Pacific for a stay on the island of Bora Bora. Charlie gets a tour around the infamous reefs and takes a dive with sharks and sting rays. Then, Charlie spices things up by learning to make a local dish. All aboard the Paul Gaugin cruise ship! It’s a destination perfect for romantics and adventurers alike, for a complete escape from reality. Join host Charlie David on a tour around the island of Moorea and then aboard the luxury cruise liner, the Paul Gaugin. Charlie spends some quality time with turtles at a rehabilitation facility, and then gets up close and personal with some local dolphins. When you think “safari”, this probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind. But our intrepid host, Charlie David, travels directly south to discover the incredible rainforest adventures developing in Argentina. The trip begins with the world famous Iguazu Falls and then ventures into more unusual territory – including day and night time safaris for wildlife that literally can’t be seen anywhere else, all the while living in the lap of luxury at some of the finest jungle lodges.

Giddee up, cowboys and cowgirls! It’s time to go gaucho! Host Charlie David saddles up for another South American adventure and immerses himself in the Argentine cowboy experience. Charlie learns to ride, rope and herd cattle like a true gaucho to earn his asado (Argentine BBQ) lunch. Continuing on the authentic exploits, Charlie checks out the Jesuit ruins where the local people known as Guarani lived in peace with the missionaries at the site of the film “The Mission”. If you’re travelling to Costa Rica, this is the city that you fly into. While many travelers keep right on going, our host, Charlie David, spends some time discovering why San Jose is a must see destination on its own. Attention, eco-tourists! Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, is your one stop dream destination. Host, Charlie David, voyages in, on, under and over this national park. After a little beach time on the pristine waterfront, Charlie floats through the Mangroves, zips through the jungle and rips down the river with only an inner tube. He finishes his day with a massage on the beach before partaking of some well-earned – and highly satisfying – cuisine.

It’s a destination offering a truly Canadian experience. With a laidback village vibe full of sassy ski bunnies, there’s a flurry of activity to be experienced on and off the slopes. Host Charlie David heads west for the Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo in Calgary, Alberta. With a little help from his cowboy and cowgrrl friends, Charlie gets “rodeo ready” in tight jeans, a tall hat and a “tough enough to wear pink” cowboy shirt. Not content to just watch the hot rodeo action, Charlie signs up for one of the gay rodeo’s unique competitions: “goat dressing”. Giddyup, cowboy!
Episode 304 — Vancouver
Charlie David plans his big gay wedding in Vancouver, British Columbia. This includes his search for the other groom. Charlie sits down with “Two Dears and a Queer” wedding planners, scouts out the perfect location for a proposal and tours the local bars and nightclubs in his quest for a husband. Along the way, he cruises Vancouver’s beaches and blades the world famous sea wall in Stanley Park.

Host Charlie David jets in to Telluride, Colorado for the fifth annual Gay Ski Week. Glistening slopes, friendly fellow-skiers, steaming hot tubs, delicious après-ski meals, and crazy theme parties make for perfect ski week conditions.
Episode 315 — Sydney Mardi Gras
Host Shannon McDonough travels down under to Sydney, Australia for their epic Mardi Gras. Shannon interviews parade marshal Margaret Cho, then shakes it up with the tens of thousands of enthusiastic revelers who take to the streets and the clubs for days and nights of elaborate costumes, parties, concerts and cultural celebrations.

Charlie David checks out the original home of the term “Greek love” in the Athens episode of Bump. He makes the trip up to the Acropolis and uncovers some of the gay history of the ancient Greek gods. He samples some Greek food and slips into a singlet to try his hand at Greco-roman wrestling. And Charlie tops it all off with a tour of the Athens’ nightlife in the Gazi district.

Charlie turns up the heat in the Miami episode of Bump. He contemplates parties in Versace’s old mansion, hooks up with Brazilian male model, Rodiney Santiago for a photo shoot, quizzes hot, lesbian DJ, Citizen Jane, on the music scene, tries his hand at kite-surfing and tears up the town with a few local celebrity friends.
Episode 409 — Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Host, Charlie David, works out the kinks of big city life in “The Nation’s Summer Capitol”, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Charlie starts off his exploration of this little gay town with a stop at Bad Hair Day for some spa time. He checks out the beach scene (including the local lifeguard competition), tries on designer beachwear, and gets a sneak peak at female impersonator Christopher Peterson’s latest show. Charlie tops off the episode with an evening of antics reveling in the nightlife of Rehoboth Beach.

Charlie David gets a lesson in Swiss German in our Zurich episode. He savours a coffee and the view that Einstein once enjoyed at the gay-friendly Café Odeon, works out with the Swiss Gayrobics team, checks out the local beaches and drops by G-Colors, Zurich’s gay hotel, bar and nightclub complex.

Charlie David scopes out the birthplace of the industrial revolution, Manchester, UK. He takes a gay heritage tour to brush up on the queer history, learns about the incredible success of Manchester Pride, shares a drink with Adam Zane, of the UK series, Queer As Folk, and slides on his water wings for a swim with the Manchester Gay Water Polo team. Charlie’s visit also includes a tour of the Canal St. gay village to delve into Mancunian nightlife – including a stop at the late night greasy spoon, McTucky’s.

Host, Charlie David is on a quest to discover exactly what IS under those kilts in our Glasgow episode. Episode 415 — Dallas, Texas
Charlie David drops into the Lavender Heart of Texas for our Dallas episode. He’s just in time for the local Pride Parade and party. But Dallas has much more to offer a gay or lesbian traveler, including a gay Rugby team (the Dallas Diablos), a gay oriented housing development called The Ilume Complex, and plenty of Texas size entertainment happening on “The Strip”, the local gay neighbourhood. Everything really is bigger in Texas. But its lavender heart makes it better in Texas.
Episode 416 — Curacao
While much of the Caribbean isn’t known as gay friendly, the island of Curacao offers Dutch attitude with Caribbean latitude – and relishes its diversity. Host, Charlie David, explores the many charms of this island getaway. He SCUBA dives with dolphins, revs up the engine on his ATV, sips colourful cocktails on the hotel beach and parties with the locals for Gay Curacao Plasa’s “Get Wet Weekend”.
Episode 417 — Cape Town
South Africa was the first country in the world to outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation. So it’s not surprising that Charlie David finds such an amazing scene here in her Mother City. Charlie tears himself away from the gay beach long enough to explore the shopping at the V& A Waterfront. After a stunning drive along the coast, he indulges in a little wine tasting before popping in to visit Elton John’s South African home away from home, Le Residence. Charlie fuels up with a traditional meal at the Africa Café and then it’s time to kick off the nightlife in Cape Town.
Episode 418 — African Safari
Charlie David lands in what is considered the Heart of Civilization – and embarks on an adventure like no other. On a true African Safari in Kruger Park, run by Out2Africa – a gay friendly tour operator in South Africa. Charlie gets up close and personal with the most ‘wild life’ he’s ever encountered and his heart is warmed beyond compare by the generosity and beauty of the people he meets. He dines in the bush on the most luscious of foods and stays at the most luxurious lodges, complete with private pools and outdoor showers. To cap things off, Charlie swims in Devil’s Pool on the edge of Victoria Falls for the most breathtaking view known on earth.

Host, Shannon McDonough dives into the Hawaiian way of life on the island of Maui. She signs up for Bonnie Friedman’s “Tour Da Food” for an “off the tourist path” culinary adventure. She checks out the gay beach scene. Then, it’s off to Wailuku town for a chat with the “Morning Goddess” Alaka’i Paleka. Shannon’s cultural investment continues with lessons in Stand Up Paddling AND Hawaiian language before topping off the evening with steamy cocktails at the Tiki bar of Hawaii’s “most Hawaiian Hotel”.

It’s time to hang loose in Honolulu for host, Shannon McDonough. Adjusting to Island life involves a Hawaiian makeover at the luscious outdoor Ala Moana shopping centre, Hula lessons at the Royal Hawaiian Center, surf lessons on the beach and a cooking lesson with Chef Chai at his popular resto. She manages to save up just enough energy to explore the piping hot nightlife of this tropical paradise.
Episode 421 — Las Vegas
This dazzling desert town bills itself as the “Entertainment Capitol of the World”. And from casinos to call girls, burlesque babes to the fruit loop, there are many reasons why “what happens here, stays here”. Our hostess with the mostest, Shannon McDonough, tries out her showgirl skills, chats with the Wynn/Encore’s LGBT concierge and treks through the Red Rock Canyon with Pink Jeep Tours. Since Vegas is all about “living large”, Shannon enlists the help of a personal shopper at Crystals at City Centre and tries on a few Crystals of her own. Of course, there’s just as much going on at night as there is during the day, so after catching up with headliner Frank Marino backstage, Shannon tears up the town with a few local hotties along the way.

The biggest little city in the world has a reputation for eccentricity. They’ve always been a little different here. A little wilder. A little woollier. Sometimes a little otherworldly. And that might explain some of Shannon’s activities here in Reno. She braves a mountain on a snowshoe expedition. Indulges in a shower filled spa treatment. Gets lost in her enormous luxury resort. And invests in a little culture – Reno style – at the National Automobile museum. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Bump episode without a little nightlife, which Shannon rounds off with a little underground cage dance. Welcome to Reno.
Episode 423 — Antwerp
When you’re thinking of European “centers of gayness”, this little city of fashionistas may not be top of your mental list. But Charlie David is determined to uncover its gay wonders and begins with soaking up the old world charm in one of the many intimate cafes which line the winding cobblestone streets. Since Antwerp is a fashion mecca, Charlie indulges in his favourite sport, with the help of a personal shopper. For the active tourist, Charlie drops in on the gay sports group, Active Company, and tests his skills with a shuttlecock. This is an excellent warm up for his evening of dancing and gallivanting around the surprising array of gay bars and discos.

This city is a dichotomy. While unarguably trendy, modern and vibrant, this particular part of the world also possesses one of the most violent histories of any place on earth. And it’s located in the midst of the constant strife and discord of today’s Middle East. So how is it that, in the birthplace of the 3 great, monotheistic religions, this country is one of the most advanced gay-liberation nations in the world, and this – her modern cultural capitol – one of the hottest and most liberal gay cities?
