If you watched last seasons RuPaul’s Drag Race, you encountered the sassy fast-talking talents of Bianca Del Rio (aka Roy Haylock). The hilarious Bianca is a standup genius, she can imitate Judge Judy to a tee, and read a queen up one side the street and down the other.
While scouring across the country with RuPaul’s Battle of the Seasons Tour, a showgirl showdown hosted by the one and only Michelle Visage and doing his “Rolodex of Hate” tour, he is also raising funds for the feature film “Hurricane Bianca”. There seems to be no slowing down anytime soon for this drag diva of comedy.
Bianca how is life at the moment?
I am on a bus living the glamorous life. (We both laugh)
I just watched a segment on the internet titled “In Bed With Joan”. You got to lie in bed with Joan Rivers and chat, I was laughing my ass off.
There has been many things in my life that has been great, obviously winning drag race was spectacular, but my ultimate was being near her. To get that experience was quite lovely and I had the best time! The one time I was excited in my life and inside of me was this six year old gay boy going “It’s Joan Rivers”! It was completely surreal and something that I hold very close to my heart.
Congratulations on making OUT magazine’s top 100 list.
Thank you, it was amazing, being on the list is quite an honor, they have always been very good to me. You know it’s surreal when things like this happen and you get to do this television show. The number of people you reach and who are aware who you are.
I’ve read alot of interviews and watched quite a bit of footage on you and you seem well grounded. It doesn’t appear the spotlight has changed you much.
I’m old! I’m old for Christ sakes! It’s been a great journey and its years of working and you get this golden ticket and this ticket is quite amazing, and it’s how you use it and how you apply yourself. I have no regrets.
I have to give you a compliment, not many drag queens I have seen out of makeup are handsome to me, but I think you are a real cutie pie.
Well thank you, but I have to say the last person that told me they thought I was pretty was my uncle right before he fucked me. (I’m laughing hysterically)
What do you like to do in your free time, or do you even have any at this point?
You know there is not much free time, but I can’t complain. I like to read, I like to sleep which is a rarity. But there is always something to look forward too. I enjoy being able to work and meet all these amazing people. The fans are very supportive and they all come out see you, Drag race has opened many many doors.
You are raising funds for a film titled “Hurricane Bianca” is that correct?
Yes, a genius friend of mine Matt Kugleman from New York had this idea and we are going to film this in the summer which I am quite excited and we are going to make it happen. He has believed in me for many years, and to get the chance to do it is fate.
What does the future hold for Bianca?
Well you know the sky is the limit. Well I know what I don’t want, the shitty life before this. Being able to travel and do all these shows has been surreal. So I have no idea what the future holds, but I’m ready to roll with it.
I think we need a Bianca talk show.
Oh, Im ready, why the hell not. If you look up failed talk shows, everyone has had one even Marie Osmond for Christ Sakes! I recently did something for Bravo and I was there with Andy Cohen and I said “When you get a talk show”, and Andy was like “I don’t know if the world is ready for it”. I said You have enough of these fucking housewives of Atlanta wearing enough fucking wigs and makeup looking like drag queens”! “Give me a fucking chance”!
Last thing, I call this the four favorites
Your favorite food?
I’m a Vegetarian not really picky, I love everything.
Vodka & Grapefruit juice
Favorite cuss word?
Fuck, I like to do it, I like to say it, so yes, definitely fuck!
