EVOLVEFEST: We’re Not Homophobic, We Just Hate Gays

EVOLVEFEST, an electronic dance music festival, has stirred up controversy after clarifying on their Facebook community page that the festival is not LGBTQ friendly.

The festival, though it touts itself as “a visionary community of bold souls, kind minds and artistic mystics,” is not new to scandal. Last year’s festival had to be moved to a new venue and Eventbrite pulled ticketing from the festival when the festival’s homophobic and anti-semitic ideals came to light.

In a statement accompanied by a picture of a burning rainbow flag, the festival promoters added insult to injury by stating, “We don’t hate anyone – far from it – but we absolutely oppose the Radical Sodomite Agenda and are Pro-Spirituality, Pro-Traditional Family Structure and Pro-Life.”

This cheerful statement was followed by a reminder that the festival is “about positive evolutionary advancement, not the opposite.”

The comment section of the post, which has now been shared over 2000 times, has been flooded with responses from members of the EDM community as well as hundreds of allies who have voiced their support for the LGBTQ community and rebuked EVOLVEFEST’S hate-filled views.
