Adele’s video for her smash hit, “Hello,” goes gay thanks to a stirring LGBTQ reimagining of the video.
Adele’s black and white music video was already a bonafide success. The single “Hello” hit number one in the charts in over 100 countries. The official video, directed by Xavier Dolan, has over 800 million views on YouTube. It doesn’t take much visual imagery to move viewers with such soaring, powerhouse vocals that only Adele can deliver.
But now, thanks to one enterprising editor, the music video has been recast to tell the tale of two lesbian lovers. With the striking new visual story, the reimagined video for “Hello” becomes even more heartbreaking.
Using footage from filmmaker Sal Bardo’s clip for “Paper Ring” by The Great Escape, Cleber Fleith cut together a new love story to accompany Adele’s “Hello.” Fleith wanted to make a “LGBTQ version” of the music video, which captures the original spirit of the woeful song through the lens of lesbian lovers.
